VADUZ

Wappen von Vaduz

Origin/meaning :
The new arms of Vaduz show a quartered shield with in the first and fourth quarter the Royal crown, indicating that Vaduz is the seat of the Royal family. The second and third quarter show the arms of the Counts Von Werdenberg, who founded the present Principality of Liechtenstein in 1342.

The previous arms were granted on the 31st of July 1932.


The tower represents Vaduz Castle (first mentioned in documents about 1322), the residence of the Lord of the country, while the bunches of grapes symbolise the viticulture practised in the Vaduz district since olden times.
