ŠILUTE
Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on October 5, 1995.
The arms were already designed in 1968 and show two sails, with a weathervane and a horn. The weathervane is a typical vane used by the fishermen on the Curonian Lagoon. The arms thus symbolise the main occupations of the inhabitants, fishing and the old mail route (horn).
Šilute, however, had already obtained arms in 1941. These arms, shown below, show in the upper half a trefoil and in the lower a moose (or elk) antler. These arms symbolised the agriculture and the forests. In 1995 it was decided that the 1968 arms should be remained as they reflect more the history of the village.
 The arms of 1941.
