BAUSKA

Origin/meaning :
In 1443 Megden, the Master of the Teutonic Order started the new castle Bauske. The rather big town Amt-Bauske is mentioned in 1511.
In 1609 city rights were granted. The arms were granted a little later: a golden lion.
After the independence of Latvia the small National Arms were added in 1925.
