STIRLING (Area Council)
![]()
Origin/meaning : The crown above the shield signifies a local authority. To the right of the shield is a wolf. This represents the wolf which, according to legend, saved Stirling in the 9th century by waking up a guard with its howl when it was disturbed by attackers approaching the town. To the left of the shield is a goshawk. This is a symbol for the Drummond family who owned a lot of land in the area in the 18th century.
