PERTH (County Council)Incorporated into : 1975 Highland Region
Motto : Pro Lege et Libertate (For Law and Liberty) The arms were placed on an eagle supporter. I have no image thereof.
Origin/meaning : The arms show the Scottish lion, as Perthshire historically was strongly linked with the Scottish Royal families. The lion holds a scimitar to defend the country. The free canton shows the Scone Palace and a crown, which symbolises the time when Perth was capital of cotland and many Kings of Scotland were crowned in Scone Palace. Literature : Patton, 1977 |
