Origin/meaning : The first quarter shows two cinquefoils derived from the arms of Monklands and Motherwell. The open Bible is derived from the Cumbernaud and Kilsyth arms and signifies the connection with the Covenanters in the 17th century. The motto "Pro bono publico" means 'For the public good'.
