Origin/meaning : The arms are based on the historical burgh arms. The silver field and red chevron are taken from the arms of the historical region of Carrick. Maybole was the capital of the district of Kyle & Carrick District. The three blue lions are those of King Robert I, Earl of Carrick before becoming King. The motto "Ad Summa Virtus" (Courage to the End) is taken from the old burgh arms. Literature : Image provided by Denis Towner, Australia; Urquhart, 2001 |
