Civic Heraldry of the United Kingdom Scotland KYLE & CARRICK (District Council) Additions : 1975 Ayr, Girvan, Maybole, Prestwick, Torrn; districts of Ayr, Dalmellington (partly), Girvan, Maybole Incorporated into : 1996 South Ayrshire I have no larger image, any better image is welcome ! Origin/meaning : The arms were granted on November 28, 1975. The arms combine elements for Kyle and Carrick. The lion and the bar are taken from the arms of John Sterwart, Lord of Kyle (later King Robert III), the chevron is the historical arms of the Earldom of Carrick. The motto indicates the unification.
