RUTLAND
Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted on May 1st, 1950.
Rutland's arms use a horseshoe (because of the prominence of equine industries in the county) and acorns (punning on Oakham, the county town). The motto ("Much in little") refers to Rutland being by some distance the smallest county in England.
