Origin/meaning : The crest depicts an owl, the bird of wisdom, emphasises the motto which is "Obtain Wisdom", behind a pelt (indicating the footwear industry) and a shuttle which represents the hosiery industry. The right supporter is Oadby's lamb which refers to the woollen and hosiery manufacturers and the links with the frame-work knitters company. The other is the tiger which recalls Wigston's associations with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment which is now incorporated into the Royal Anglian Regiment.
