MITCHAM
Incorporated into : 1965 Merton

Origin/meaning :
The arms were granted in 1934.
The lavender flowers found in the shield and crest show that Mitcham was once at the centre of the Lavender growing industry. The pale down the centre of the shield shows the various parts of Mitcham. The green colouring of the pale is for Mitcham Green, the blue and white wave for Waterford and the silver castle for Mitchelham. The mural crown is a symbol of civic government.
