Origin/meaning : The crest shows two flaming torches for the local industry, and are taken from the old Long Eaton arms. The stag is part of the arms of Nottingham and Derby and symbolises the position of the district between these two cities. The stag wears a lace collar, which symbolises the traditional lace making industry. The small rings, amulets, on the crown and symbolise steel-making and engineering.
