WICKRATH
District (Kreis) : Mönchengladbach (until 1974 Grevenbroich),
Incorporated into : 1974 Mönchengladbach
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
 Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted in 1926 and show the arms of the three main noble families that were of importance in the history of the city. The eagle is the imperial eagle and indicates that the town was directly under the rule of the emperor. The upper arms are the arms of the Lords of Broichhausen, who owned Wickrath until 1466. The spiked cross is the arms of the Knights of Hompesch, who ruled in the 15th century. The third arms are the arms of the Lords (later Counts) of Quadt-Wickrath, who ruled in the 17th century.
