Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) German Civic Heraldry WEISSENSEE State : Thüringen District (Kreis) : Sömmerda Additions : 1993 Ottenhausen, Scherndorf, Waltersdorf Origin/meaning: The arms were officially granted on ?? The arms have been used since the 19th century. The old seals of the city, known since the 13th century, however, already showed a fish, but the combination of the two fish and the star dates from the 19th century. The two fish symbolise the Ober- and Niedersee lakes. The golden star symbolises the Runneburg in the municipality. The arms as shown in the Kaffee Hag albums, 1920s Literature : Ulle, 1998
