District (Kreis) : Limburg-Weilburg (until 1973 Oberlahnkreis)
Additions : 1950 Audenschmiede; 1970/1 Aulenhausen, Dietenhausen, Ernsthausen, Essershausen, Laimbach, Langenbach, Laubuseschbach, Lützendorf, Möttau, Rohnstadt, Wolfenhausen


Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on July 1, 1935 and confirmed on September 30, 1983.

The seals of the town, known since 1541 all showed a canting church (Münster), and the lion of Nassau. The new arms were based on the old seals. The town belonged to Nassau from the 14th century until 1803.
