ÜCKENDORF
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
![]() Origin/meaning: The arms were designed after Ückendorf became a separate municipality and Amt. The arms were never send for approval, and probably would never have been granted, as at the time small municipalities were not entitled to use arms. The oak tree symbolises the position of the munixipality in the forest-rich Westfalen, but is also used as a canting element. Ückendorf was thought to mean oak-village. The base shows mining tools, the symbol for the rapid development of the village at the end of the 19th century due to coal mining. The wheat-ears symbolise the (then) agricultural character of most of the municipality. Literature : Information from here.
