Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen)
German Civic Heraldry

TELTOW

State : Brandenburg
District (Kreis) : Potsdam-Mittelmark

Origin/meaning:
The origin of the arms is not known. Its composition indicates that the arms are derived from an old seal. However, the oldest seal, dating from 1289, shows a shield with the eagle of Brandenburg. The second known seal dates from the early 19th century and shows the Prussian eagle, with a sword and a balance in its claws. The arms with the castle appear only in the late 19th century.

In 1984 the arms below were shown, granted on January 15, 1912. I have no idea which arms are used at present.

Literature : Bensing et al., 1984; Hupp, 1896, 1898
