SÜDERHASTEDT
State : Schleswig-Holstein
Origin/meaning: The roses in the middle of the arms are taken from an altarpiece in the local church, one of the oldest churches in the county. The swords represent the latter part of the name (Hastedt), which is supposed to mean army-place (barracks, fortress). The wheat ears indicate the importance of agriculture. Literature : Reissmann, M. : Die Wappen der Kreise, Ämter, Städte und Gemeinden in Schleswig-Holstein. Landesarchiv Schleswig-Holstein, Husum, 1997. |
