SCHÖLLKRIPPEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Aschaffenburg (until 1973 Alzenau)

OOrigin/meaning:
The arms of Schöllkrippen were granted in 1954.

The upper part of the arms shows the wheel of the State of Mainz, as the area belonged to the Prince-Archbishops of Mainz until 1803. The lower part shows three pointed battle-clubs, which are taken from a 17th century seal of the Amt Schölkrippen (then a district of Mainz). The origin of these figures is not clear, but the addition of the letters M and W indicate that it is the personal arms of one of the local officials. Being a rather unique figure, it was chosen for the new arms.
