Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) German Civic Heraldry SCHLECHTBACH (until 1967 Unterschlechtbach) State : Baden-Württemberg District (Kreis) : Rems-Murr Kreis (until 1973 Waiblingen) Incorporated into : 1975 Rudersberg Origin/meaning: The arms were officially granted on February 16, 1954. The arms were designed in 1954 as no older arms existed for the muniipality. The lion is the lion of the Stauffen family, as the village probably was part of the properties of the Dukes of Staufen in the 11th century. A Diepold von Schlechbach was mentioned as a knight of Emperor Barbarossa of the Staufen dynasty. The red bar is taken from the seal of the Lords of Waldenstein, who owned the village in late medieval times. As no colours were known, the red colour was chosen arbitrarily. The linden leaf is taken from the early 19th century seal of the village of Lindenthal in the munucipality. The leaf is a canting symbol for Lindenthal. Literature : Gönner and Bardua, 1970
