SCHAUENBURG

State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Schwalm-Eder Kreis
Additions : 1970s Breitenbach, Elgershausen, Elmshagen, Hoof, Martinhagen

Origin/meaning:
The arms show the castle of the Counts of Schauenburg who lived until 1223 at the local castle. In the 14th century the castle was rebuilt and this building still exist.The green colour and the flower represent the nature in the municipality. The five leaves represent the five former municipalities.
