PFARRKIRCHEN
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Rottal-Inn (until 1972 Pfarrkirchen)
 Origin/meaning:
The lower part of the arms shows a canting church ( Kirche = church). The oldest known seal, dating from the 14th century already shows a church. The arms were officially granted in 1447 by Duke Heinrich of Bayern-Landshut. The upper part shows the panther of the counts of Spanheim, who ruled the area before the Wittelsbach family (Dukes of Bayern).
The composition did not change, but the size and shape of the church has changed considerably during the centuries.
