Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) German Civic Heraldry PENNEWITZ State : Thüringen District (Kreis) : Ilm-Kreis Verwaltungsgemeinschaft : Langer Berg Origin/meaning: The arms were officially granted on December 12, 1991. The upper half shows the lion, derived from the arms of the Counts of Schwarzberg, who ruled the area for many centuries. The lower half shows some miner's tools, symbol for the copper mining in the area; and a wheel for the fact that historically village was known for its coach drivers.
