![]() Origin/meaning: The upper part shows the lion of the Dukes of Jülich, who ruled the area from 1177-17th century. The origin of the lower lion is unknown. The arms are based on a seal dating from 1556. Older seals show a castle with in front of the gate the arms of Jülich. Literature : Stadler, K. : Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
