NEUMARKT-SANKT VEIT
Neumarkt an der Rott
State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Mühldorf am Inn
 Origin/meaning:
The arms already appear in the oldest known seal of the city, which dates from 1505. The colours are also known from the same time. The arms have not hanged as such ever since, except for some misinterpretations in the 19th century, when the panther was shown as a griffin or a lion.
The panther is derived from the arms of the Counts of Kraiburg-Ortenburg from the Spanheim dynasty. The whole Spanheim dynasty uses the panther. The area belonged to the Counts of Kraiburg since 1248.
