Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) German Civic Heraldry NEUMAGEN State : Rheinland-Pfalz District (Kreis) : Bernkastel-Wittlich Incorporated into : 1969 Neumagen-Dhron Origin/meaning: The arms were granted in 1951 and shows in the right half the cross of the State of Trier, and the bars of the Lords of Neumagen. The latter had a small Estate around the town until 1320. The town and surrounding area belonged to the State of Trier for many centuries. In the late 19th century Hupp accidentally interpreted a seal of Dormagen as a seal of Neumagen. The seal showed St. Michael and a dragon. The Neumagen council adopted this composition as arms and used it until 1951. In the early 20th century the arms below were shown in the Kaffee Hag albums, showing a totally different composition of both Dormagen and the later arms. The arms as shown in the Kaffee Hag albums.
