NEUERBURG
State : Rheinland-Pfalz
District (Kreis) : Bitburg-Prüm (until 1970 Bitburg)
 Origin/meaning:
The arms are based on the oldest known seal of Neuerburg, which received city rights in 1332. The seal dates from the same time and shows a canting tower (Burg) and symbolises the former fortifications of the city. The right half shows the arms of the Lords of Neuerburg-Vianden, who ruled the city in the 14th century. As there were no historical colours known for the left half, the colours were chosen arbitrarily in the 19th century.
In the early 20th century the arms below were shown in the Kaffee Hag albums, in different colours.
Literature : Stadler, 1964-1971, 8 volumes; Kaffee Hag albums 1920s.
