NASSWEILER
State : Saarland
Origin/meaning: The arms symbolise the history of the village. The axe and hoe symbolise the freedom of the village to develop the forests into agricultural soil. The eagle is taken from the arms of Lorraine, as the settlers in the village came from that region. The hook is the symbol used on borderstones by the Counts of Nassau-Saarbrücken. The village was founded in 1608 by Count Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken. Literature : Heyen und Zimmer, 1966 |
