 |
MÖRSCHState : Rheinland-Pfalz Urban district (Stadtkreis) : Frankenthal Incorporated into : 1919 Frankenthal
Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted on May 8, 1987 as borough arms by the city of Frankenthal.
The arms are a more heraldically correct version of the older arms used by the council until 1919, see image below. These arms were never officially granted.
The whole composition is taken from the historical seal of the local court.
The arms show the local patron saint, St. Stephanus, with his attributes, the stones and palm leaf. The two shields show the key and stars of the State and diocese of Worms, and the lion of the Pfalz. Historically the village was a possession of Worms and later of the Counts of the Pfalz (Palatine). Literature : Debus, 1988. |
