MARXHEIM
State : Hessen
District (Kreis) : Main-Taunus Kreis
Incorporated into : 1938 Hofheim am Taunus

Origin/meaning:
The municipality never had its own arms. The oldest known village seal, dating from 1543, shows the upper half of a knight, holding a cross. The origin of the knight is not clear, it may be the local parish saint, St. George, or it is derived from the seal of the Frankish Lord Marbod, after which the village supposedly was named. As the latter died many centuries before the use of heraldic shields, this explanation is unlikely.
The upper left image was the arms as proposed in 1956 in the Hessisches Wappenbuch, the upper right image the arms as used now by the city of Hofheim for Marxheim.
