MÄHRING

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Tirschenreuth

Origin/meaning:
The arms are a combination of the arms of the Cistercian Order, a sword and the symbol of the patron saint. The arms were granted in 1968.

Mähring was founded and owned by the Cistercian monastery in Waldsassen. In Mähring there was a small local court, and the sword was added to symbolise this court. The spiked-wheel is the symbol of St. Catherine, the patron saint of the village church, which also belonged to the monastery in Waldsassen until 1803.
