Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted in 1930 and are partly based on a seal dating from 1706. The seal showed a cross, the symbol for St. Andrew, the patron saint of the city in the lower part of the shield, and two crossed keys in the upper part. The keys are the arms of the State and Bishops of Worms, who ruled the town. The keys are the symbol of St. Peter, the patron saint of Worms. When and why the stars were added is not clear. The keys probably were removed in the early 19th century when the State of Worms was abolished. The colours were not fixed until 1930 and different colours were used during the last century.

Before, Lampertheim used different arms in seals. The oldest seal dates from the 15th century and shows only a plough iron. Around 1540, under the rule of Bishop Heinrich of Worms new arms appeared. They showed the arms of the Wittelsbach family (his family, see Bayern) combined with the keys of Worms. These arms are probably used until 1706.
