KLEVE
State : Schleswig-Holstein
Origin/meaning: The name Kleve is derived from the older Kleef, meaning cliff. This is represented by the division line of the shield. The division also represents the fact that the village is situated on the border of the (higher) Dithmarscher Geest and th elower Eider valley. The two wavy bars symbolise the Eider and the Brocklandsau, which run through the municipality. The horse symbolise the importanc eof horse breeding and riding in the area. The colours are those of the State as well as the Ditmarschen district. Literature : Kommunale Wappenrolle Schleswig-Holstein
