Origin/meaning: The arms show three holly leaves (Ilex sp.), a species that grows in the municipality.
The branch represents the main road going through Kattendorf with the The arms that were finally adopted were one of the four designs that were made for the municipality. A first design showed a canting cat's claw and was rejected by the municipality. The three other designs all showed the three holly leaves. The final design (as shown above) combined the leaves with the Kattenbek river and was accepted by the municipality on June 25, 1994, the other two designs combined the leaves with the Kattenberg hill in the municipality.
