Origin/meaning:
The arms show a typical medieval design of a city wall with hornblowers and the arms of the local ruler. The composition already appeared on the seal of the city from 1346. The small shield at the time showed the arms of the Lords of Kamenz (wing, see the district arms). Later seals show the lion of Bohemia, as the city became part of the Kingdom of Bohemia. The smaller seals of the city in the late 15th century only used the lion.
