KAARST

State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Rhein-Kreis Neuss (until 1974 Grevenbroich)
Additions : 1974 Büttgen

Origin/meaning:
The old arms of Kaarst (above left) showed the patron saint of the village, St. Martin, and the cross of the State of Köln, as the village was part of the State of Köln.
The new (right) arms were granted on February 8, 1979.

The cross in the arms is again the cross of Köln, which was part of the old arms of both Kaarst and Büttgen. The lower right part of the arms show the arms of the Van Werth family, who played an important role in the local history (see also Büttgen). The lower left part shows the cloak of St. Martin with the sword.
