HÖSBACH
State : Bayern
Origin/meaning: The right half of the arms shows the local church of St. Martin with its typical tower. The colours, red and silver, are taken from the arms of the State of Mainz, to which the village historically belonged. Hösbach was the seat of a forester appointed by the archbishops of Mainz since the 14th century. This fact is symbolised in the left half of the arms, whocing a oak branch and a spur, as the forester mainly travelled by horse in his district. Literature : Information obtained from the Region Unterfranken
