HÖCHST IM ODENWALD
State : Hessen
![]() Origin/meaning: The arms were newly devised as no old arms or seals of the town were known. The bridge symbolises the fact that the town is situated on both banks of the Mümling river. The stars are derived from the arms of the Counts of Erbach, who ruled the area for many centuries. The historical bridge was destroyed after WWII and replaced by a larger modern bridge. Literature : Stadler, K. : Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Angelsachsen Verlag, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
