HEINRICHSTHAL

State : Bayern

Origin/meaning:
The arms of Heinrichsthal were granted on August 21, 1969.

Heinrichsthal developed in the early 17th century as a village of glass workers. The axe in the arms symbolises the clearing of the forest for the new settlement. The other tool is an iron tool used in glass making, in German a "Kröseleisen". The letters HF stand for Heinrich Fleckenstein, a famous glass blowe rof the region, it has been speculated that the name Heinrichsthal is derived from his name. The chief of the arms shows a red cross, the symbol of St. George, the patron saint of the village.
