HEIGENBRÜCKEN

State : Bayern
District (Kreis) : Aschaffenburg

Origin/meaning:
The arms of Heigenbrücken were granted on May 17, 1977.

The main element in the arms is a special glass, a very typical glass known as a Kutterolf and symbolising the local glass-making tradition. The oldest references to a glass industry in the village date from the 15th century. To make this special glass was already part of the final exams of the glass blowers of the Spessart region in 1406.

The oak leaves symbolise the large (oak) forests in the Spessart region. The base shows a hill with a railway tunnel. The tunnel was built in the middle of the 19th century and symbolises the importance of the village on the crossroads of different road and train connections.

The silver and red colours symbolise the historical ties of the State of Mainz, the green symbolises the nature.

Literature : Information obtained from the Region Unterfranken
