Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen)
German Civic Heraldry

HAAR

District (Kreis) : München

State : Bayern

Origin/meaning:
The arms were granted in 1951 and are derived from the origin of the name. The name Haar is derived from the word Hart, which means a clearing in a forest. The village was first mentioned in the 9th century and, like most villages in the area, was built on clearings in the Ebersberger forest.

Literature : Stadler, K. : Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland. Angelsachsen Verlag, 1964-1971, 8 volumes.
