FUSSINGEN
State : Hessen ![]() The above arms were proposed in 1956; I have no idea whether the arms were actually adopted. The oldest seal of the village dates from 1544 and shows a bishop standing behind two shields. One with the red lion of Katzenelnbogen, the other with the golden lion of Nassau. The village historically belonged to Katzenelenbogen and when this county became part of Nassau, it belonged to Nassau until 1803. The above proposal combines the two lions. Literature : Hessisches Wappenbuch, 1956 |
