ERBENHEIM
State : Hessen ![]() The arms were granted in 1951. The arms show the historical village symbol, that was already used on a border stone near the village, dating from 1515. As no colours were known, the colours of the State of Nassau were used, as the village historically belonged to Nassau. At the same time, blue and gold, are also the colours of the city of Wiesbaden. Erbenheim received city rights in 1423, but never developed into a proper city. Nevertheless, the new city had a seal made in the middle of the 15th century, showing the arms of Nassau, with a saint, holding a palm branch and a tree. It is unknown which saint is depicted. The saint was used on all seals of the city/village until 1866, when the area became part of Prussia, when the shield of Nassau was removed. Literature : Hessisches Wappenbuch, 1956 |
