EBERSWALDE
1970-1993 EBERSWALDE-FINOW
State : Brandenburg
District (Kreis) : Barnim
Additions : 1936 Kupferhammer; 1970 Finow (1928
Eisenspalterei-Wolfswinkel, Heegermühle, Messingwerk) ; 1993 Sommerfelde; 2006 Spechthausen
Origin/meaning:
The arms are based on the older arms of the city, see below, in which the eagle of Brandenburg has been replaced by a wheel as a symbol for industry.
The previous arms were officially granted on August 26, 1928, see below. The composition is already known from the 13th century seal of the city and is canting; a boar (Eber) in a forest (Wald). Eberswalde received city rights from the Counts of Brandenburg, hence the eagle.

Seal from around 1900
