State : Rheinland-Pfalz ![]() Origin/meaning: The upper half shows the arms of Bayern and the lion of Nassau. The area belonged for centuries to the Kurpfalz (Palatinate), which was a part of the Kingdom of Bayern. In 1802 the are became part of Nassau.
