DANNENFELS
State : Rheinland-Pfalz ![]() Origin/meaning: The arms were granted in 1925 and are a combination of the lion of Nassau and a canting symbol (Tanne=pine tree). Danenfels got city rights in 1331 from the counts of Oppenheim. In 1393 the city was inherited by the Nassau-Weilheim branch of the Nassau family. The oldest known seal, dating from the late 17th century shows only the lion of Nassau. The tree was added in 1925. Literature : Stadler, K. : Deutsche Wappen - Bundesrepublik Deutschland.
