CASTROP-RAUXEL
State : Nordrhein-Westfalen
District (Kreis) : Recklinghausen (until 1972 a free urban district)
Additions : 1975 Henrichenburg
 Origin/meaning:
The crosses are derived from the oldest seal of the Castrop Estate, dating from the late 15th century. The seal showed the cross of St. Andrew. Later seals showed the same cross, but since the late 17th century the 'open' cross has been used.
The colours were added in 1902 and the arms were officially granted in 1911 and after the merger with Rauxel confirmed in 1926. Until 1965 the city used a mural crown on the arms.
