BITZ
State : Baden-Württemberg
Origin/meaning: The arms show in the base the wing taken from the arms of the oldest known owners of Bitz, the Lords of Lichtenstein, who owned the village until 1386. The chief shows a deer antler for Württemberg. Until 1930 Bitz used seals with the arms of the Kingdom and later Free State of Württemberg. In 1930 Bitz used a seal with symbols of the textile industry, which was slightly changed later in the 1930s. On August 9, 1938 Bitz received a coat of arms with these symbols, but added in a chief the antler of Württemberg. These arms were used until 1958 when the present arms were granted.
