Origin/meaning: The three birch trees in the arms symbolise the three villages in the municipality, Bark, Schafhausen and Bockhorn. At the same time the birch is a canting symbol, in the local dialect Bark means birch (in German Birke). The red hill in the base refers to the Barker Heide, a protected natural reserve in the municipality. Literature : Kommunale Wappenrolle Schleswig-Holstein
