Deutsche Wappen (Gemeindewappen/Kreiswappen) German Civic Heraldry PIRMASENS-LAND State : Rheinland-Pfalz District (Kreis) : Pirmasens Origin/meaning: The arms were granted on January 27, 1978. The area of the Verbandsgemeinde historically was ruled by the counts of Hanau-Lichtenberg and later by the Counts of Hessen-Darmstadt. The arms thus show the arms of Hanau and the striped lion of Hessen. The bordure is the symbol for a Verbandsgemeinde and is shown in the colours of Hessen. To the Verbandsgemeinde belong : Bottenbach Eppenbrunn Hilst Kröppen Lemberg Obersimten Ruppertsweiler Schweix Trulben Vinningen Literature : Debus, 1988
